Awaken the body and ignite the breath in this vinyasa class. Synchronizing breath to movement, we will explore poses that strengthen, detoxify and calm. Balanced sequences with specific attention to alignment include sun salutations, standing and seated postures. Variations of postures will be offered to meet and support students where they are in their individual practice
Stretch and Restore
In restorative yoga props are used to support the body so that you can hold poses for longer, allowing you to open your body through passive stretching and get deep into connective tissue. The postures are usually adapted from supine or seated yoga poses with the addition of blocks, bolsters, and blankets to eliminate unnecessary straining. This is a great practice to slow down and nurture your your body if you are recovering from an injury, chronic condition or just need to slow down.
This class will follow in traditional Hatha Yoga style and lead you into physical postures with deep breathing, mindfulness and listening to the body. The class will establish connections between the body and mind that help lead you to a calmer place. It will help relieve the body of tension in a gentle way, quiet the mind and bring clarity of thought.
These acquired skills such as breath awareness and remaining in the moment will last a lifetime.
Yin Yoga & Meditation
is a complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic and invigorating yoga styles that are predominant today. In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive 'stress' on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints. Energetically, Yin Yoga opens the body's meridian system, which enhances the body's energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium. As this practice emphasizes stillness and silence, Yin Yoga prepares both the body and the mind for deeper experiences in meditation. A guided meditation will be incorporated into each class along with an extended final rest in savasana.
This class is a blend of mellow flow yoga with yin. We will begin with gentle yoga to build strength, warmth and flow with fundamental yoga postures while relieving stress and tension by connecting breath with mindful movements. We will finish with yin to create flexibility, mindfulness and softness to release connective tissue and remove blockages
